New Wave Mermaid Pumps

Description

My first attempt at upcycled shoes. I had to when I found these amazing neon green pumps that were of course three sizes too small for my sasquatch feet, and still felt compelled to make use of them somehow. For sale on Etsy here [link]

"I recently watched a favorite movie from my childhood, "Splash" with Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah. When I found these colorful green pumps and saw that the brand is also Splash I just knew I had to make a 1980's-inspired aquatic upcycle entitled "New Wave Mermaid." These pumps are a size 7 and completely decked out in maritime wonder. They're like an aquarium for your feet. Adorning the toes are sparkly plastic coral reef bits, shiny pink and orange pebbles, and tiny button octopi. The stitching on the shoes is adorned with scaly sequins and pearly glitter. I've also added side panels of hot pink fishnet. The heels are accented with hot pink ruffle ribbon, pastel pink gems, and starfish and oyster buttons. An explosion of neon green tulle blooms at the ankles in the shape of a bow (or perhaps fins) with distressed pink lace cascading below. Hand-sewn into the lace are sea foam green pearl beads simulating bubbles and a menagerie of miniature sea life buttons. There is so much to look at with this shoes that I could only capture so much in the photos. They are sure to give you a stimulus overload much like Madison the mermaid had in "Splash" when she walked on land for the first time and discovered aerobics.

Also included with the shoes is a matching hair bow featuring a sparkling mermaid--what a deal! I've upcylced the shoes and the hair bow with high-quality materials so although I would not recommend any actual aerobic wear, they should be perfectly suited for a casual night out on the town or dinner at your favorite sushi restaurant. This is definitely a one-off item, so you if you like what you see catch it before it gets away!"
